Interpretive Trance

A take on the classic suit, with a literal twist. Inspired by Vogue designer patterns of the 1990’s, particularly the draped panels and oversized shawl collars of Issey Miyake, combined with the sleek lines and strong shoulders of Alexander McQueen. These elements were reinterpreted and combined into an edgy, fashion-forward jumpsuit. As the entire piece is a riff on the suit, it seemed a natural choice to choose fabrics that were interpretations of classic suiting fabrics. Oversized digital houndstooth in a vivid lizard green is paired with a more subtle green/black puckered jacquard version, with the pieces cut on various grains to emphasize style lines. An integrated shawl hood and hidden in-seam pockets give the piece additional style and function.
